As I have said before, video is a thing I want to do well. Ever since I saw this TED talk, I have been a believer – video is the future, and can at least do for the world what print has done the last 500 years, and because of the nature of video, probably do more.
But video is hard. It has a whole new set of technologies, of skills to learn, of needed equipment – at least, all of that is what I have been telling myself the last 7 years, instead of actually, you know, doing video things.
The reality is, it is easier than ever before. Most of us carry around video cameras in our pocket. Mostly, it was about my fear.
So, being a firm believer in doing the thing that makes you afraid, I have started a new thing.
Last Sunday, I did a Facebook Live event – my first! It was easy, and lots of fun, and engaging. I uploaded the episode to YouTube – you can watch it there, if you want.
It went so well, I think it wants to be a thing.
So, going forward, I have a weekly live “show” on my Facebook page. It will go live at 8:30PM Eastern Time on Sunday nights. Mostly I intend to address the week that was, and plot out the week ahead, and it being me, we will probably talk about self-care and self-change, and turning the world as it is into the world as it could be. It is also entirely possible one of my cats could work their way onscreen.
I hope you can join in. If you have ideas for things for me to talk about, let me know. If you don’t catch it live, I will be archiving the episodes on YouTube, so you can catch them there later.
Oh yeah – I’m calling it The Hughscast. Because of course I am.
