I am living in Raleigh, NC with my wife Renee, and together we co-parent our three cats and three lazy chickens. We live near downtown in an, uhhhm, transitional neighborhood.
In May of 2016, I started eating a non-fundamentalist version of paleo and lost about 45 pounds. In spring of 2017, I started running – well, shuffling, anyway. I am currently running about 15 miles a week. About once a week I think I should begin doing yoga, but my inner lazy slob wins out. So far.
Professionally, I am the founding pastor at Love Wins Ministries, a progressive faith community here in Raleigh that is made up nearly entirely of people experiencing homelessness.Until recently I was the unpaid director at the Love Wins Community Engagement Center, which we spun off as its own nonprofit back in 2016 and who hired a new ED in September 2017.
Additionally, I write and speak about issues of poverty, faith and community. Here is a list of where I have shown up recently.
